Professor Obas John Ebohon is the inaugural Dean of the Academy for Sustainable Futures at Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU) in Canterbury, Kent, United Kingdom. An internationally recognized academic leader and scholar in sustainable development, environmental law, and built environment strategies, he also serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the multidisciplinary Journal of Architectural Engineering Technology. He holds a diverse and prestigious array of qualifications, including a BA (Hons), an MA, a PhD, and an LLM in Environmental Law, and is recognized as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA) and a Member of the Energy Institute (MEI). Before his tenure at Canterbury Christ Church University, Prof. Ebohon built an extensive academic footprint, notably serving as Professor of Sustainability and Environmental Law, Director of the Centre for Integrated Delivery of the Built Environment (IDoBE), and Director of Internationalisation and Recruitment at London South Bank University (LSBU). Prior to that, he was a Reader in Energy, Sustainability, and Development at De Montfort University in Leicester, where he directed the Developing World Built Environments Research Unit (DWBERU).
As a prolific researcher, Prof. Ebohon has directed and managed numerous local and international multidisciplinary collaborations, successfully supervising more than 30 PhD candidates into impactful careers within the built environment sector. His primary research interests focus deeply on energy sustainability, urban infrastructure delivery strategies, macroeconomic development, construction multinationals, and circular economy integration within structural engineering. His exceptional expertise is frequently sought after by global administrative bodies; he currently serves on the UN-Habitat International Advisory Board for the biannual World Cities Report (WCR) and is the Chairman of the International Board of Trustees for GreenHubAfrica. Committed to grassroots policy transformation, he has lent his expertise as a Sustainability Expert Group Member for the Citizens’ Assembly on Climate Change across multiple London metropolitan authorities, including the Lambeth and Southwark councils. Throughout his highly distinguished career, Prof. Ebohon has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, contributed to international scientific committees, and continues to provide vital consultancy services to unilateral, multilateral, and third-sector organizations worldwide.
